I didn't build my 90Three SUL myself but I think there are hollow ferrules used for the LE and LS. Might be a few grams lighter too.

Having the extra weight of the standoffs in this part of the kite also adds to the balance for tricks.

In my experience 2 mm gfk is too soft for use in standoffs. But if it works for you, go for it. Inland/mountain wind can be very thin indeed. You might need some sort of XUL version of the kite like Rolf did.

The Mini Vented is basically a 90Nine standard but with 2 small vents added in each wing built by Krijn Hemminga. It can handle quite a bit more wind compared to the standard version while retaining the low pull flight characteristics. The footage for this little edit was shot during a bike trip in Walcheren, Zeeland at the Oostkapelle beach. Enjoy!

Level One BadAss Super Ultralight Egmond Aan Zee | IckyTV

Had a very nice short session with the Level One BadAss super ultralight at Egmond aan Zee beach just before the wind picked up a few notches. The little plateau in front of the the beach cabins was a fun target to do tipstands/spikes on. Made a little edit of the few minutes of footage i shot. Enjoy!

After a two year hiatus because of obvious reasons it was time to have a Tricksparty weekend in the beach villa in Zeebrugge, Belgium once again. Great weather, all sorts of wind including lab-grade sea wind and a lot of good friends and bad jokes. There might have been a few cups of coffee, tea and some beers involved as well. We had a blast. Thanks to everybody who made an effort to be there and contribute. Here's a 10 minute impression. Enjoy!

Virtual Freestyle is a video based online international dual line freestyle/trick kite competition in which the competitors are the judges as well.
Skill/level is not an issue. Everybody is free to enter en there are some very nice prices donated. Some of the prices are awarded randomly across all entrants.

90Nine Vented Ultralight

The 90Nine is the bigger brother of the 90Three open source trickkite (239cm width). This ultralight version (Nitro Lite rods) has small vents in the sail which make it a bit more stable in bumpy wind without sacrificing trickability. This was shot at the gorgeous Schouwen north beach of Burgh-Haamstede, Zeeland. Lines: 25dAn, 35 meter.

A low wind sunset session with the Lazarus Mini sportkite by MugenKites at Oostvoorne beach. This scaled down version of the Lazarus open source trickkite is framed in all pultruded carbon rods and it has quite a remarkable windrange and a good frontflip for Crazy Copter combinations. Gabor kindly lend me this kite to try and enjoy. Thanks!

The 70Eight is the 190 cm wingspan version of the 90Three open source trickkite built by Krijn Hemminga. The accent color is middle grey which is a very nice addition to the Icarex color palette. Frame is a mix of Skyshark 3pt and Avia Skinny SUL. Flown at Breezand beach on 17,5 m lines. Loads of fun! Quick reflexes required!

I will test next week in Cervia. the goal is to extend the lower wind range.

I recently aquired this The Kick UL sportkite from it’s designer: Robo Spitters. It was built in the mid 90’s by Cavaliers du Ciel. The kite feels more like a super ultralight with it’s all Avia Skinny frame and early Icarex sail. Conditions were perfect at Maasvlakte 2 with a smooth and gentle sea breeze. Great Sideslides, Fades and Sharkies. Slow and graceful in flight. Enjoy this new episode of Back to the Old School.

The Lizard is one of Gabor Nagy's (MugenKites) older sportkite designs. First concept was finalised in 2013 and Gábor Böszörményi gave it a facelift in 2014 in the form of this rather unique sail pattern. This video was shot during a short session at De Groene Punt beach, between Oostvoorne and Rockanje at low tide. Quite a nice beach with the remains of old bunkers in sea. Winds were moderate/strong. Thanks to Gabor Nagy for providing the kite.

The Intention is Canvas Kites Designs' larger wing sportkite. With almost 250 cm of wingspan it aims at elegance and presence in the sky while retaining full trick ability. This was my first proper session with the kite in extremely variable wind. The Nitro frame holds very well in higher gusts. Enjoy the video!

Had a new years day session with the 90Nine Mid Vented open source trickkite at the Noordsvaarder, Terschelling. Winds were too strong to fly all week except for about 1 hour in the morning of January 1st. Still quite windy though.
