Sail material for high winds kites

    Hello,
I remember that many years ago, when I started to fly dual line kites, most vented sail where in spinnaker (maybe chikara?) and not Icarex, because is an heavier material and less impermeable to air, so more suitable for strong winds.

So I wonder why it is no longer used: did not give any real advantages? Or It is more convenient (for manufactures) to use the same material for all kites ?

Would be interesting to build a "strong" kite with chikara sail?

    Thanks for your opinions!

    Hi Tullo.

    Icarex is a polyester.
Polyester has a very little strech, but tears under heavy loads.
So, for a kite, used in strong winds, nylon is the better choise.
    There are some nylons available.
One of the best one that you can buy as a consumer, ist Chikara.
Other nylons are very hard to obtain for a consumer.
Dimension Polyant, Bainbridge, Contender offer very good nylons ... but
    they are hard to get.

    Greetings, Jörg
